Liberation of Light: LED expositie in Designhuis
JUNE 14, 2010
The Designhuis will hold an exhibition about (O)LED. This exhibition shows the situation on the area of (O)LED and design in a broad scheme of uses (indoor lighting, outdoor, public spaces, architecture), from (autonomous) art to a product for consumers, from a concept to touchable. At the same time, this project wants to challenge developers and designers to seize the possibilities of LED and OLED. That’s why there will be an explicit look into the future.
The development of LED is mostly controlled by technology. Because of the high price, the limitations and bad quality that is sometimes put on the market, LED still raises resistance with users and consumers. The first creatively shaped armatures are launched on the market, but often they go back to the shapes and uses known to us like the light bulb and TL (tubular lighting). Loads more often then they do now; artists and designers could explore the possibilities and uses. This also counts for the OLED-lighting, which brings bigger ‘light areas’ into reach.
The Designhuis will hold this exhibition from the 25th of September 2010 until the 30th of January 2011.
