How can a table force the relationship between two people, manipulate it or even enforce it?

IMPLIED is a table for two, inspired on #metoo and the issues of unwanted intimacies.
How can a table force the relationship between two people, manipulate it or even enforce it?

The folded line of the table's seating turns it into the compelling character in this story, forcing the users to sit closely together.
Moreover, the table is designed as a closed box, giving the couple the necessary (yet uncalled for) privacy.

The use of birch plywood gives the piece of furniture a warm and soft appearance, emphasizing the intimicaty and cosyness of the table. At the same time, this enhaces an uncomfortable and forced athmosphere.

Despite the suggestive character of the table, is the intimacy only implied. The users can, however not effortlessly, counteract the attraction. The table doesn't force anything.
The uncomfortable perception appears to be coming from within the users themselves.
