(Archive) Bergstraat Straatstijl / Street Style

New identity

Artist Johan Moorman created a concept to make the Bergstraat, one of the most authentic streets of Eindhoven, even more attractive visually. The assignment was given to Johan because of his graphic, playful and especially colorful style, and because of his experience with working in street art.

Eye candy

Johan invented a completely new identity for the street (the street style), to create more visual unity.

An interesting assignment for Johan:
'Normally I create an artwork for one wall. With this assignment, I had to invent an identity for the whole street.
The nice thing about this is that the new imagery reveals oneself in different shapes, from murals to flags, but also in wrapping paper and stickers for example. The design really had to catch the eye, making it a party to come to the Bergstraat. I based the design on traffic signs, but more playful. The end result is like candy for the eye.'

Besides the graphic image style, Johan also suggested to bring more green into the street.
Johan: 'My share is of course very graphic and geometric. By adding more green, an organic layer becomes part of the design. A good combination that is.'
