(Archive) AANGENAME ONRUST IN VERVAGENDE GRENZEN

A method in between both worlds that I made by studying disorientation, experiences of spaces, human senses and more.

I want to give people peace despite the pressure from society, I do this with the help of VR and disorientation. My furniture and virtual space work together to blur the boundary between the worlds but also to give flexibility to the meaning that someone gives to the environment.

VR gives me the possibility to create situations that are unique of their kind.

I see gaps, fallen roof tiles, light shining through cracks and branches growing through the walls. I’m getting disoriented but find it pleasant. Abandoned buildings give me tranquility, I can surrender to the moment and to my emotions. I want to give others the same feeling of peace, we tend to feel this less often because of the pressure given by society. This pressure is increased by the feeling that buildings predetermine how we should experience them.

VR is on the rise, this especially in the world of architecture. We can, within a second, be placed in a totally different environment through experiences that can seem surrealistic. But what if we combine this unknown world with the ‘real’ world in which everything already seems to be determined?

I can stimulate tranquility with the help of VR and disorientation. Whenever we have less grip on our surroundings, we’ll try less hard to get a grip on our own emotions. Several physical elements share the same locations as virtual objects; the border between both worlds fades away.
In spite of feeling pressured by standards in our world, intuition starts taking the lead when it comes to the way we experience our surroundings.
