Massage that moves with you
Millions of people worldwide live with chronic lymphoedema: swelling of an arm or leg that doesn't go away and needs daily care. Manual lymphatic drainage helps, but it takes time and appointments. Existing compression pumps are often bulky and force you to sit still.
CAIR, a startup from Eindhoven, is working on an alternative: a lightweight sleeve that builds up directional, sequential pressure, like a wave moving towards the body. It feels like a therapist's massage, but wherever and whenever you want: on a walk, at work or after exercise. The technology stems from research at the University of Waterloo and is taking shape in the Brainport ecosystem.
What you see here is not a finished product. It is a working prototype, developed together with patients and therapists, and every version has been shaped by their feedback. Beyond lymphoedema, we are also exploring sports recovery.
At DDW, we invite patients and therapists to experience the sleeve yourself. How does the pressure feel? Would you wear it? What's missing? Your response shapes the next design. Want to test with us or stay informed? Please leave your contact details.
