Abstract mathematics turned into textile
With the Van der Pol Tea Towel we commemorate a great Eindhoven scholar, Balthasar van der Pol, who described the "Van der Pol equation" around 1926 while working at the Philips Natuurkundig Laboratorium. Through the image of its characteristic limit cycle, jacquard-woven on commission by the Weverijmuseum Geldrop, we make a piece of abstract mathematics part of the tangible pride of the Brainport Eindhoven region.
