Exploring ādara®
For this collaborative project, I explored the possibilities of ādara® through the craft of upholstery. How can a new material inform the way we construct, upholster and experience a piece of furniture?
I reworked a traditional upholstery technique and designed a chair to put these explorations into practice. Material, technique and form developed together, with the making process guiding the design. The chair became both a functional object and a way to investigate how ādara® could be shaped and applied.
The project reflects my approach to design: studying established methods while exploring new materials and ways of making. It brings craft and experimentation together, with attention to comfort, tactility and the character of the material.
