We carry our bodies with us throughout our lives. They move with us through changes, protests, love, and care. In this work, Tessel makes the body larger than life and brightly colored. She uses bold representations to make sexuality visible instead of neutral. While non-binary or "neutral" representations can hide sexuality, she looks for ways to help the body claim space.
Tessel embraces bright colors to protest the idea of colourful being inferior. The print references the dazzle camouflage used on battleships in World Wars I and II, which aimed not to hide but to confuse and challenge the status quo.
