We interact with food every day, often without questioning what it is for. Foodie Boulevard challenges these familiar assumptions and invites DDW visitors at De Fabriek to look again, follow their curiosity and discover possibilities of their own.

Food Beyond Eating: A Playground for Creativity, Stories, Self-Expression and Human Connection

Food shapes our everyday lives in ways we rarely stop to notice. It carries memories, traditions, emotions, sensory experiences and relationships.

A smell can transport us to childhood. A recipe can connect generations. An unfamiliar ingredient can spark curiosity, while sharing a meal can create connection between people who have little else in common.

Yet we often approach food through a narrow set of expectations about what it is for and what we are supposed to do with it.

Foodie Boulevard asks what becomes possible when we loosen those expectations and approach food with curiosity instead. Rather than presenting a finished answer, the immersive installation creates space for personal discovery.

Visitors can draw from their own experiences, associations, memories and imagination to investigate what food means to them and what else it might enable.

The starting point is deliberately familiar: something every person already knows. The experiment begins when we look at it differently.
