ALL YOU CAN EAT is an exhibit that parodies the unlimited dining experience, addressing topics such as overconsumption and waste, individualism and conformism, and tradition and optimisation. It offers a buffet of alternative voices and futures. It questions the notion of ALL YOU CAN EAT and challenges us to engage responsibility back into the discourse of an increasingly complex world of design.

The buffet is now open!

The societal chef presents us with dishes that make us salivate. Our environment pressures us to excel: we not only want to have the best but also to be the best. We are filling up our plate and making sure to not miss out on any station. We want to get an extra spoonful of that perfect body, a portion of the big promotion, and some sprinkles of a love story. To make things even more complex, nowadays we don’t merely buy, but we subscribe. Subscriptions promise us tantalizing deals but end up leaving us more hungry than when we began. We subscribe our minds and bodies to the world of all you can eat.

But does pasta pollo actually go well with strawberry cake? And what is that touch of parsley really covering? With every extra serving the plate becomes more monotonous. There’s no way to taste everything, nor why should we? What seemed like a buffet of endless choices, turns out to just offer one option - we are all racing the same queue. Just when you thought you served yourself a unique selection, you look at the table next to you and see the exact same medley.

Today on the menu is a specialty; something bringing back flavor to our daily diets. This exhibition invites us to digest our consumptive habits and make room for an alternative social paradigm to the competitive nature entrenched in ALL YOU CAN EAT.
