Baarmoedergeheimen

It’s time to put the truth on the table. A set of conversation cards about the hidden sides of the womb, with facts, questions, and social issues.

What does it mean to carry a womb with you throughout your life? What kinds of complaints, discomforts, and pain can it cause? The number of people suffering because of the womb is significant, so why aren’t we talking about it?

Mission on tour

Since the successful launch of Baarmoedergeheimen at Dutch Design Week 2024, Rosanne Martens and Anna Musch have been shining a light on the womb’s hidden sides. Their mission: to break the silence about what it means to live with a womb—physically, emotionally, and socially. Because the better we understand what it involves, the more space there is for openness, recognition, and understanding.

Over the past year, their installation—with illustrations of common conditions and interactive boards full of questions—has traveled to festivals, fairs, and conferences such as Women’s Health Day in Utrecht and Noorderzon in Groningen. The conversations with visitors were disarming, painful, vulnerable, and inspiring. Again and again, it became clear how little people actually know about the womb, even though almost everyone has a story to tell. People were certainly willing to talk when asked, but for most, starting the conversation themselves still felt difficult.

Let's talk!

That is why, one year later, Rosanne Martens and Anna Musch are now launching a set of conversation cards: Secrets of the Womb — It’s time to put the truth on the table. A deck filled with illustrations, facts, questions, and social issues. A tool to learn together, exchange experiences, and gain new insights. A conversation that may feel uncomfortable at first, but soon turns out to be fun, light-hearted, and surprisingly easy.

At Dutch Design Week, you can try it out in a specially designed seating area inside the Red Box exhibition, but in the end, the set can be used anywhere—at home, at school, or at work
