The Design Innovation Sessions explore the major transitions we as a society are facing, and the role creative industries can play in driving them. Across five days, you will hear fresh perspectives from leading researchers and creative pioneers, discover bold projects tackling urgent challenges, and connect with others who are in design and innovation. As part of the Mission Days, this curated programme is designed for professionals who want to be inspired and exchange ideas on real change.
Transitions shaping our future
The Equal Society session focuses on the question: How can we ensure that no one is left behind in the major systemic shifts of our time? Inclusive systems require structural transformation. Together we explore how design can help reshape systems, by embedding shared values, collective agency, and long-term resilience at the core of systemic change. This session will be a mix of current big design questions, cutting-edge research, and pioneering projects that offer new insights and deliver solutions that work. Expect a morning full of inspiration and practical takeaways, all wrapped up with a delicious networking lunch.

Among the speakers are Philémonne Jaasma, with a keynote on co-creation for an inclusive future. How can design research methodologies contribute to building the society of tomorrow? And Rikst Westra and Andreas Krüger, on their recent project that explored the democratic model of a ‘mission economy’, supported by a strong public sector in the form of collective innovation.
