Flip World – City Wonders

Reimagining Cultural Identity Through AI & Tangible Play

Flip World is a playful workshop where participants generate AI-based culture cards, remix them with handmade materials, and explore identity and difference through storytelling, co-creation, and a collaborative world-building game at LAB-1 during Dutch Design Week.

An AI-ART empowered Cultural Perception and Co-creation Workshop

At LAB-1 in Eindhoven, Flip World invites cultural explorers to reflect on identity and bias by playing with AI-generated “perception cards.” Using our AI Toolkit, each participant receives a visual collage card created from their hometown, personal profile, and online narratives—offering a glimpse of how the internet might imagine them. If this AI-generated version doesn’t fully reflect your lived experience or memory, you’re invited to join our Cultural Game Design Workshop on October 25–26. At the workshop, participants will use our Tangible Toolkit—featuring printed imagery, soft clay, and symbolic materials—to handcraft a second version of their card: a tactile, memory-rich “human interface card.”

Through storytelling, collaborative making, and playful interaction, participants will explore how cultural identities are misunderstood, represented, and remixed. This process opens up space for empathy, imagination, and shared meaning-making between strangers from different places. By the end of the journey, you will become both a player and the NPC of your own story in Flip World—an evolving game world shaped by real memories and collective creativity.

Hosted by clockcloud-lab

clockcloud-lab is an independent design research lab founded by Xiang Yu, a PhD candidate at TU/e. The lab explores interdisciplinary and intercultural approaches to design, aiming to bridge creativity gaps in how we respond to today’s complex societal challenges. Collaborating with academia, industry, and public institutions, the lab bridges creativity gaps through behavior change design, participatory methods, and gamified design experiments.
