The interaction between chance and intention

Lapis Collection is series of intriguing and versatile seating objects, made to challenge people's perception: what initially appears to be hard and rough reveals its true nature when touching it for the first time.
The production of each Object begins with one large block of soft foam. By carefully ripping it apart the individual components are shaped. The interaction between chance and intention that lies in the process of ripping the foam, creates the beautiful stone like texture that gives each object its individual character.
To ensure durability while maintaining the material’s softness, the raw foam is coated with a highly flexible paint that is UV-proof and water-repellent. This finish protects the surface from environmental exposure without compromising the tactile quality that defines the collection. The result is a set of objects that invite touch, challenge expectations, and celebrate the beauty found in the contrast between rough appearance and soft material.
Suitable for in- and outdoor usage the range of applications is endless.
