Designed to Return
New Dawn is a 3D-printed lighting fixture by Aga Blonska. Made from polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA), a biodegradable biopolymer derived from microbial fermentation, the piece embodies a circular design approach—fully compostable in any natural environment.
Referencing fermentation as a metaphor for renewal, New Dawn explores cycles of regeneration through both form and material. The project was curated by Studio Simone van Es and produced in collaboration with 3D Makers Zone, who led material research and technical realisation.
The work premiered at the ROOTS Exhibition, Masterly Milano, during Milan Design Week 2025, exemplifying Blonska’s commitment to ecological innovation and sustainable aesthetics.
