NEWBEEZZZ

Global warming is welcoming new species into our urban gardens. We live among them, but who are these newcomers and what do they pursuit?

NEWBEEZZZ – NOCTURAMA, a project visualising insect migrations in the Netherlands, aims to shed light on these phenomena and fosters awareness of the dynamic urban nature.

NEWBEEZZZ - NOCTURAMA Embracing the unknown

Nocturama, once the name for the dark shelters of nocturnal animals – here becomes a sanctuary for newcomers.
This co-exhibition of illustrator Steffie Padmos and architect Paul Peters creates a possibility to shape a realm where you might not feel naturally at ease. The interaction of both protagonists, night crawlers and the architectural constructions with their peculiar traits shaped by natural evolution, create a bizarre setting where surreal proportions disrupt our perceptions and point of view. The intention of the designers is to lure in the observer, to mesmerise with the beauty of these natural creatures and have them eventually embracing the new.

Hosted by Steffie Padmos illustrator

A background in art and a fascination for the natural world steered Steffie towards a MA in Scientific Illustration, in the footsteps of tradional illustrators and naturalists as Maria Sybilla Merian and Ernst Haeckel. Her evolution as an artist is evident as she explores a more contemporary approach that maintains it’s reverence for scientific subject matter. Paul Peters is an Eindhoven-based architect who works on small to medium-scale projects, while also creating autonomous objects.
