Projet S

Enhancing corrugated sheet metal and revealing the beauty of the agricultural boilermaker's craft.

Project S is a 10-year research project in collaboration with PETRUS, a French company specializing in the profiling and bending of corrugated sheet metal for agriculture. We developed furniture manufactured in small batches or unique pieces in order to rethink this technical and traditionnal work

Design

Located in northern France, PETRUS has been profiling and bending corrugated sheet metal for over 60 years. It has exceptional expertise in this field, mainly applied to the agricultural needs of the region. The project, carried out independently in collaboration with the company, has two objectives: to reveal the beauty and technicality of this little-known technical expertise and to disseminate it in functional furniture that can be manufactured in different series.

Designed by Jules Levasseur, the collection includes body-scale furniture: tables, desks, chairs, and armchairs. They experiment with a different relationship with corrugated sheet metal. It becomes structural, comfortable, soft, and sculptural. The combination of different materials transforms this highly industrial material into a noble, highly functional material.

The production methods are hybrid. We can produce series while also developing very unique pieces with finishes close to those of artisanal craftsmanship. This approach is the result of a collaboration between the industrial company and the designer's studio.

Hosted by Jules LEVASSEUR

An independent designer since 2013, Jules Levasseur has developed an approach that combines design, art, craftsmanship, and industry. Committed to the evolution of traditional working practices, he develops a regional design approach that promotes local trades and the culture of craftsmanship.
