Cooperation on self-commissioned collectible interior objects
The first installment of this bold new collection was presented at 5Vie during Milan Design Week 2025. With a playful sensibility and deep commitment to eco-conscious design, studio mo man tai transforms leftover pieces of acrylic mirror material into dynamic, geometrically composed furniture pieces—ranging from tables, benches and stools to mirrors and pedestal.
Drawing inspiration from quilting, the project reimagines the craft’s intricate patchwork aesthetic through vivid, multi-hued acrylic surfaces that reflect light in unexpected ways. Each segment is cut with a laser and assembled by hand in-house, accepting and embracing small imperfections as part of the narrative, resulting in visually rich and authentic pieces.
In Quilted Mirror Objects, mo man tai invites viewers to rethink the relationship between ‘waste’ and beauty. For this project, they are collaborating with Pyrasied, which specialises in environmentally friendly plastics, giving leftover pieces of acrylic mirror a second life.
The resulting pieces are not just functional objects—they are joyful statements that celebrate reflection, color, and the transformative power of sustainable craftsmanship.
Kazerne edition
This new release also celebrates a significant milestone: the studio’s 25th anniversary of crafting bold, colour- and playful and sustainable design. Especially for the presentation during Dutch Design Week studio mo man tai created interior objects in a different daring colour way, in dialogue with other works presented at the Kazerne.
