Raw Color x RAL

The functionality of colours

RAL and Raw Color partnered for a special edition to celebrate RAL's 100th anniversary, applying Raw Color's design to the popular RAL Classic colour fans like the K7 and K5. The design groups colours by application such as transport and safety to highlight their origins and functionality.

A tribute to 100 years of expertise

By researching the nature and applications of the RAL Classic collection, Raw Color discovered that the unique character of the colour system lies in its function and its implementation in everyday life. By examining the history and application areas of RAL Classic colours, they created categories and assigned colour shades; the result was five colours that represent common application areas such as transportation, communication technology, and safety. The five selected shades represent an aesthetic cross-section of RAL colours that are both functional and expressive in their combination.

The Reichsausschuss für Lieferbedingungen (known as RAL) was founded in 1925 with the aim of standardising the colours in which industrial goods were coated, lacquered, and coloured. One hundred years later, RAL is celebrating this milestone in collaboration with the Dutch design studio Raw Color by honouring the core colours and producing a limited edition.

Raw Color x MAGAZIN

German design brand and retailer MAGAZIN approached Raw Color, inspired by the studio's research into the RAL colour system. The goal was to develop a colour reinterpretation of MAGAZIN's Stapler, Falter, and Knicker desk organizers. For the powder coating production process the RAL Classics system is applied. Based on this, Raw Color has compiled a selection of three shades. These give a vibrant look to the iconic products that typically have a more neutral appearance. The collection is completed by a notebook designed by the studio. Throughout this year’s, DDW Raw Color will present the results of their collaboration with MAGAZIN in the Raw Color Shop.

MAGAZIN is a German multichannel retailer offering a carefully curated selection of high-quality and well-designed everyday products for the home and lifestyle, including its own developed "M Products." MAGAZIN sells through physical stores in cities such as Stuttgart, Munich, and Bonn, as well as through its online shop.

Raw Color Shop

During DDW, Raw Color is presenting its shop in collaboration with MAGAZIN. In addition to the Raw Color collection, products developed in collaboration with MAGAZIN will also be on display and sold. The RAL colour decks celebrating the 100th anniversary will also be available in the shop.
