LAYERED reinventing waste – by Silke Grimmelmann
LAYERED reinventing waste - transforms post-consumer plastic packaging into unique, layered surfaces for eyewear, objects, and interiors. Up to 40 hand-sorted foil layers are fused without glue or added color, creating tactile pieces with depth, color, and story. Each object reveals the hidden beauty of waste, celebrating imperfection and material honesty. LAYERED is both a product series and a design approach — exploring circular aesthetics and the emotional value of reused materials. The LAYERED glasses were recognised as a Finalist in the Green Product Awards 2025.
Material Relationships – by Angharad Summers
Material Relationships is a furniture series that transforms discarded materials into meaningful, functional pieces. Using offcuts, factory waste, and reclaimed timber, each design celebrates imperfection and material memory. Rather than hiding flaws, Summers highlights them—revealing the story behind each object. Her non-egocentric approach is humble, resourceful, and honest. The project questions fast consumption and invites us to see value in what’s already around us.
