Dutch Design Week 2018 shows vision of the future

28 October 2018

Courtesy of 2,600 (inter)national designers, Dutch Design Week (DDW) can be seen as the lab of the future showcasing vision in conceptual and technological innovation as well as in the renewal of crafts and systems. DDW was spread over 120 locations where 355.000 professionals, industry representatives, governments, visitors and journalists enjoyed 499 exhibitions, lectures, tours and labs.

The 17th edition of DDW was all about the theme 'If not us, then who?', a tribute to designers. They think up solutions, create innovations, are pioneers, make things tangible and functional. It is up to us all to embrace and stimulate these creative solutions. Together we decide what the world will look like in the future.

“With 355.000 visitors the Dutch Design Week 2018 was an incredible success. What stood out to me in particular was the increase of foreign visitors, no less than 21 percent. A clear sign that our reputation of excellent quality is getting known across borders. I truly hope that this development will bring fruitful opportunities for all participating designers!” - Martijn Paulen, director of Dutch Design Foundation (DDF), the organiser of DDW
