Filmpremière 'Een echte van Megen'

Panel discussion with the director, Ruben and Roderick Vos

In addition to the film screening, a panel discussion will take place about the why of the film and why it is important to share Ruben's story. Moderator Carla Wilms will talk to director Bart Hölscher, Ruben van Megen and Roderick Vos to reflect.

Director Bart Holscher says: "I was always amazed when I docked on Rubens' island. He always surprises you with the most special ideas and designs, his imagination and creative urge know no bounds. For example, it is wonderful to see how he comes up with a special creation with a pudding bowl and childhood memories.

In this film, the viewer sits next to me and what I experienced during the production process. The film is therefore very pure. I have succeeded very well in showing the dynamics in Ruben's life and work. I have made a warm human portrait, which makes it a film for a much wider audience than just design enthusiasts."

It could have been anyone's story

For Van Megen, it is somewhat strange to be the subject of a creative process himself. “I am usually the one pushing the creative buttons myself. So it is a strange feeling that I have no influence on the result. I haven’t even seen the film yet. So it is very exciting and fun!

Bart tells us about my search for my own identity and how creative and business success can be brought together. But it could have been about anyone’s search in the world of design and art. I hope that the film inspires, shows what our beautiful profession entails and how complex it is. In addition, I hope that it is fun to watch.”
