Base

Statement piece furniture for outspoken interiors

Base clothes rack

Base is a growing collection in which Lisanne Meester shows her fascination for constructive elements and materials. During DDW, she will add a bench to this collection. For this furniture piece, she collaborated with Ilse Evers of Eversom. They will present their work at Kelderman en Van Noort.

Collaboration and sustainability as a starting point

Lisanne designed this second piece of furniture in her Base collection in collaboration with Ilse Evers of Eversom. The designers merged their love for materials and its qualities and possibilities into one piece of furniture. This resulted in a beautiful combination of aluminium, recycled concrete and discarded fire hoses.

Challenged by Ilse, Lisanne set out to find a more sustainable concrete. In her search, she succeeded in producing her parts now from a mix where 100% of the concrete is recycled. The aggregate is crushed rubble from properties being demolished. The cement is also recovered from this rubble, using a unique technique. The aluminium used is also recycled. The seat is made of discarded fire hoses that can no longer perform their original function, but are an incredibly high-quality and strong material that can have many other uses. Ilse created this seat for the furniture piece using a new technique. She uses the edges of the hoses and “tufts” them through the aluminium grid. The whole piece of furniture can be completely taken apart again because of the connections with bolts and nuts.

A ‘Base’ for the future

This Base collection gets its name from two elements. Not only because this furniture literally has a strong base, but mainly because it forms the basis for where Lisanne Meester wants to grow towards with her studio. A studio for statement piece furniture that can be used in outspoken interiors, such as retail environments or hotels. If you're looking for a real visual attention-getter for your space, brand or vision, Meester is the one you need!

Driven by Purpose - Driving Dutch Design

Lisanne Meester presents her work within the exhibition Driven by Purpose at Kelderman en Van Noort. This exhibition originated at Driving Dutch Design, which is the professionalisation and networking programme of Beroepsorganisatie Nederlandse Ontwerpers (BNO), Dutch Design Foundation (DDF) and Stichting Stokroos that helps driven designers on their way into the world of creative entrepreneurship. The diverse group of ‘Drivers’ present their work with a focus on their purpose, bringing out the importance or origin of their motives as designers.
