Buitengewoon Bijzondere Burcht

Architecture for kids aged 4 to 100

Saw tilts, screw roof panels and connect houses with suspension bridges! Will you join us making models during the DDW?

Extraordinarily Special Castle

Using different techniques you will discover how you can create different 3D shapes from the flat surface. We make houses, walls, towers, bridges and more from cardboard strips! By connecting the designs, stacking them and placing them in a landscape, together we build an Extraordinarily Special Castle.

For all creative minds from 4 to 100 years old.

Defend the castle

How would a castle look like today? What shape is your house and how do you stack a tower? Where do you place your design and what happens in the space between the structures? Create bridges over the water and build walls to defend the castle. And what else do we need in this castle town?

You are welcome to design and build with us from Monday to Friday between 1:30 PM and 4:30 PM.

Design with cardboard

By marking with a pencil and template on cardboard strips, you create a 3D shape from the flat surface. You can develop your own ideas with making skills such as sawing, screwing, pricking, scoring and folding. Help us design the castle (of the future)!

In an accessible and actively way this workshop introduces the exploration of forms and spatial ideas in a landscape full of architecture.

About Architectuurlessen

Architectuurlessen stimulates the use of design thinking in education, with an emphasis on the development of creative, social and making skills. For this we use architecture as a cross-curricular theme.

With carefully designed teaching materials, we encourage children aged 4-18 to come up with creative solutions for visual, technical and/or social issues in collaboration.

This is our fourth contribution to the DDW, where everyone is welcome to inspire themselves.
