'Love is in the hair’, an installation of woven textiles with discarded hair extensions to honour the beauty and potential of the material.
Beyond the Salon Floor
We spend so much time and money taking care of our hair through washing, brushing, styling or adding hair extensions. Yet when we visit a hairdresser, we leave it useless on the floor. Studio Savine aims to give the material we treasured a new life.
Our hair is deeply intertwined with our identity. Whether we show it, cover it, or remove it, it is part of our personality and social/cultural groups to which we feel connected. Through our hairstyles, we communicate aspects of our beliefs, and tastes, often without even realising it. However, once our hair is cut, it loses its value and it falls as a useless material on the salon floor.
Every strand of discarded hair represents a part of our identity and a valuable resource that can be given a second life. Studio Savine challenges conventional perceptions by transforming what would otherwise be waste into something new and meaningful.
