Fontsteen

A sink sculptured from a single 25kg block of salt, suspended on a copper frame.

The Fontseen dissolves over time while serving its purpose, this piece mirrors the human journey—fragile and impermanent. It reminds us that just like salt, we too change and transform as we live our journey in the world.

Artist comments

The salt sink, perfectly encapsulates the core of what house of salt would evoke in us. There is a clear struggle between contrasting elements. And it offers us an exercise on accepting change and letting go. which might do us good in our build environment.

Observe the 3 distinct materials, Salt, Water, Copper. Each bearing unique characteristics on how they react to time and contact.
