SKOK-BUGATTI — © Luuk kolthof

Together with the C.C.C. which wants to use residual flows from the circular economy as raw materials, we create newly designed useful an usable objects. We focus on avoiding the annually, growing waste mountain from the cycle that causes millions of kilos of usable material to disappear

SKOK-Bugatti, NOVÝ SKOK AND NOVÝ (light object)

A new branch has been added to my original SKOK design from the 199. SKOK means 'leap' in Czech and refers to my source of inspiration with Czech Cubism from the 1910s. After the NOVÝ SKOK with Bastiaan Luijk from 2022, there is now a third variant: the SKOK-Bugatti. A three-legged side-table (can also be used as a stool) that consist of a multitude of circular parts. The raw material mainly consists of old decayed furniture from the Leiden Circular Department Store and remnants of my own workshop. Only the glue is NEW

NOVÝ SKOK

We ( Frida van der Poel and Bastiaan Luijk) are permanently conducting ongoing material research for, among other things the seat and possibly other parts of the NOVÝ SKOK, with the 3D-printed top surface in the spiral phyllotaxis pattern. Very sustainably produced in the promising biopolymer PHA. PHA is a thermoplastic that could be become an excellent alternative to fossil plastics in the future. The wood is black stained oak from the remains of the Leiden Circulaire department store.

NOVY SKOK (lightobject)

With Bastiaan Luijk from DesignStudioBL I have been working together on NOVÝ SKOK since 2022. The NOVÝ SKOK replaces a number of parts of my original SKOK design from 1994 in a 3D-printed version. Because these parts can be transparent, lighting can be installed in them. The SKOK thus transforms into a radiantly colorful atmospheric lighting object: the NOVÝ SKOK.
The material is maple wood comes from a fallen tree from Oegstgeest. And sawn by the wind at d'Heesterboom a sawmill from Leiden. The printed leg is made from recycled pet, originating from the plastic waste stream of hospitals, produced by DesignStudioBL.
