Sk.inprints is a project in which Lucas van Opdorp explores the human body with the help of sublimation printing By taking images of the human body and making them real, Lucas invites you to think about your own body and its agency.

The body and its skin are one of the most important things in the forming of our own identities. And how do we show these identities is an increasingly digital age? where the world demands us to put this on display. What do we choose to show and what do we choose to hide? This question is central in a lot of people’s lives. This work shows the effects of making this choice.
By using sublimation printing, a process where images are transferred from paper to fabric with the help of heat. I am able to exactly copy parts of other people’s bodies and my own. With that I create a reflection of the way we build up our identities. Picking and choosing from things we see around us and things we desire to be. Or emphasizing things we like in ourselves.

What do the changes we make to our bodies and its perception say to the people around us? Are we even able to steer the views of others or is everything based on preconceived notions? A wasted effort or energy well spent? Is it about the person or its skin?
