Dillemma’s in Healthcare

Hendrik-Jan Grievink created a ‘digital sharing circle’ in which healthcare professionals (played by actors) share their concerns about the impact of information technology on how we relate to healthcare. Come listen to their perspectives and join the conversation!

How do we relate to our own health?

The pressure on our healthcare system is increasing. The relationship between citizens, health, and care is changing. That’s why it’s important to keep asking questions about what this means.

Technological developments are influencing our relationship with healthcare. While you can find an abundance of information online with just one click, waiting times in healthcare are increasing. We where used to dutifully follow the advice of a doctor, people now want to be involved in decisions about their health.

How do you view your own health? When you’re older, would you prefer to be bathed by a person or a care robot? Do you trust your doctor or a health influencer on social media? How do we view our health in a complex, digital world full of (mis)information and shifting trust? How do we make space for meaningful conversations about the future of healthcare?

A digital sharing circle

The installation "Caring is Sharing: Dilemmas in Healthcare" confronts visitors with thought-provoking dilemmas about our relationship to health and care, both now and in the future. Drawn from real-life healthcare dilemmas sourced from our networks, we highlight challenges that people have in trusting communication around care and health. These dilemmas are presented in a digital ‘sharing circle’ by various actors from the healthcare world: a doctor, a nurse, and a patient. But also a naturopath, a health insurer, and a Clown Doctor. Do you share these concerns? Listen to the different perspectives, share your thoughts in the chat and join the conversation about the future of healthcare.
