Gezonde Prikkels

How do we stimulate healthy choices in (spatial) decision-making?

visual identity by Aydin Genchsoy

In the design research Gezonde Prikkels (healthy incentives) social designer Marleen van Bergeijk investigates how the abstract concept health can be broadly included in spatial decision-making.

Visit the window exhibition and think along: what stimulates health in your living environment?

Healthy environment?

Places where we live, work and stay have a major influence on our health. This influence is not limited to measurable factors, such as air quality and noise levels. There are quite some intangible factors, such as contact with neighbors, space to interact, move and develop.

In the project, Studio Marleen van Bergeijk investigates where in decision-making processes health can be introduced 'at the table' in new ways. Is there a tangible form that can contribute to a broad view of health?

Healthy incentives!

The design research started in September, and its first focus is to explore how health (in the broadest sense of the word) is currently being considered as a factor when making decisions that affect and shape our living environment.

In November, we will engage with experts to learn more about this and map it together. Want to think along? We would like to include a broad perspective: architects, urban planners, city planners, project developers, policymakers, social designers, and organizations working on environmental factors and care and welfare in the neighborhood.

Learning about the current position of health, can open up new ways of including a broad take on health when we (re)shape new and existing spaces and places.

Window exhibition

During DDW, a stimulating window exhibition invites visitors to think about health in the living environment. How do you experience healthy stimuli around you?
