Face

Face – Wall objects where wood and light merge into a new kind of portrait

Face / photography in dark — © Mehdi Mashayekhi

Face is a series of wall objects where wood and light merge. Layers of handcrafted wood, laser-cut masks, and veneer create a layered portrait. The project explores how material, light, and shadow evoke a new sense of identity.

Craft

Face is a series of wall objects where traditional woodworking and modern fabrication techniques merge. Each layer – base, mask, and veneer – contributes to a sculptural composition rooted in craftsmanship.

Transformation

The objects shift with light: modest wooden sculptures by day, vibrant plays of lines and shadows when illuminated. This creates a tension between function and poetry.

Identity

Through the layering of material, light, and shadow, the works form a new kind of portrait. Not a face that looks, but a face that looks back – embodying dual identity and perception.
