NEWBEEZZZ

Global warming is welcoming new species into our urban gardens. We live among them, but who are these newcomers and what are they seeking?

NEWBEEZZZ – migration, a project visualising insect migrations in the Netherlands, aims to shed light on these phenomena. Displaying these insects in public spaces fosters awareness of the dynamic urban nature.

Dynamic urban nature

The NEWBEEZZZ exhibition invites DDW visitors to interact as to inventorize the level of awareness of the dynamics in our population.
By using bright colours, true to the biological appearance of the protagonists, the designer aims to attract attention to the portrayed species and use this moment of open-mindness to inform about our fellow residents.

Visitors can participate in an on set live created artwork to pay a tribute to the traditional inhabitants and the endless dynamic flow of newcomers and the everlasting eclectic mix this results in.

About Steffie Padmos illustrator

A background in art and a fascination for the natural world steered Steffie Padmos towards a Master’s Degree in Scientific Illustration, in the footsteps of tradional scientific illustrators and naturalists as Maria Sybilla Merian and Ernst Haeckel. Her evolution as an artist is evident as she explores a more contemporary approach that maintains it’s reverence for scientific subject matter. Steffie aims to evoke in viewers a deeper appreciation for our planet and it’s inhabitants.
