(Archive) No Strings Attached

This project was part of DDW 2025

“No Strings Attached” invites wearers to see fashion as fluid and personal. Using drawstrings and visual cues, the garment transforms with each adjustment, encouraging playful self-expression and celebrating fashion as an evolving dialogue between body and identity.

Concept

“No Strings Attached” explores how clothing can invite interaction and self-expression. The project challenges the idea that garments must have a fixed form or identity. Through playful manipulation, wearers can transform the silhouette of the piece and decide how they wish to appear, creating a personal connection between body, garment, and emotion.

Design & Process

The garment combines colorful sublimation-printed doodles with drawstrings hidden beneath a beige canvas-like fabric. The printed lines act as visual cues for transformation, guiding where the fabric can gather or release. This interplay between print and form symbolizes how users bring “color” and personality to a neutral surface, blending digital making techniques with hands-on textile prototyping.

Reflection & Impact

By enabling multiple looks within a single piece, “No Strings Attached” promotes emotional durability and reconsiders how we relate to our clothes. It invites wearers to become co-creators, highlighting that fashion can be dynamic, expressive, and personal rather than disposable. The project represents an ongoing exploration of interaction, identity, and sustainable thinking within fashion design.
