(Archive) The higher number: A tribute to classic heels

This project was part of DDW 2021
Pump Heaven — © Feraggio heels

A visual and explorative tribute to the iconic heeled shoe: the classic pump. Not only to give them a well-deserved space at Europe's finest Design Event, but also to establish an exploration (in cooperation with the public) on the art factor, sustainability, futureproofness and inclusivity.

The ultimate pump

We want to explore how the seasons influence the choice of colour for shoes and let the audience choose the colour. With in mind that if you only had one pair of heels, what colour would you pick? With that, we want to create the ultimate DDW pump. Moreover, we want to explore, in cooperation with others, possibilities to colour shoes in new innovative ways. For instance with different materials, add-ons, projection, apps, et cetera. Last but not least, our exhibition space will be 'pumped', creating the most Instagrammable spot of #DDW21.

The size of the footprint

Are more shoes better? Or can we create a way to be fashionable and colourful without hurting the environment? And the greater number also relates to bigger shoe sizes and inclusivity. Why can't men wear heels?
