Thorough investigation on eighteenth- and nineteenth century damasks

In a broad partnership with an impressive group of scholars and designers, the Zeeuws Museum has investigated the origins and future of eighteenth- and nineteenth-century damasks from its own and other collections. The research has raised a burning question about the diversity of colours in the damasks: which dyes and procedures were used to create these shiny, colourful fabrics? Are the greens really green or were they once blue? What choices do we face if we want to produce the fabrics and shirts again?
The exhibition presents the findings and thoughts of Remi Veldhoven, Hul le Kes, EE Exclusives-Van Engelen & Evers, Wolkat, Michael Nix, Art Proaño Gaibor / Rijkserfgoedlaboratorium, Loret Karman / De Amsterdamse Steek and Betty Stikkers.
