(Archive) Remade Textiles

This project was part of DDW 2021
Remade Textiles, jessica den hartog

What is your impression of recycled plastic? From basic tools I looked for possibilities in textile associations. Used materials such as plastic bags, fruit nets and plastic bottles were given a new life. With the essence that everyone could recycle plastic from home.

Textiles made from recycled plastic

Less plastic waste is one of the Sch么nste wijk wishes that has been converted into a workshop experiment to develop plastic waste into valuable materials with basic tools. In collaboration with Art-fact / neighborhood culture Tilburg, an artist in residence program was set up in the first half of 2020 with Jessica den Hartog to work on this experiment from different locations.

What kind of image do you have with textiles from circular plastics? In this project, the aesthetic value of plastic waste as a raw material was sought from (textile) techniques to present a visual work.

Materials used are plastic bags, fruit nets and plastic bottles. Based on the idea that you can also commit yourself to this research from your location! The knowledge that has developed during this process is shared through workshops, events and teaching packages. In addition to this artist in residence program, Jessica den Hartog is also working on the project Chrysalis to develop yarns from plastic waste. Curious? This project is also the see at the location Yksi.

Sch么nste wijk is a Tilburg neighborhood culture program by Art-fact to make the Goirke-West and Hasselt neighborhoods more beautiful, cleaner
