Care organizations Cordaan and Vitalis WoonZorg Groep and the Museum van de Geest are jointly organizing an afternoon about the future of art and care.

About this event

What does art do to people and specifically to people with certain vulnerabilities? What is the future of art in care? And how do we ensure that art interventions in care become and remain accessible to everyone?

During this meeting, based on several examples from the country, we will discuss with participants/experts, care workers, artists, training programs, policy makers and designers to find a way to make art an integral part of care and give (even) more space within the arts sector.

In recent years there has been solid research into the impact of arts interventions in healthcare but the question of how they can become accessible to all (and who pays for them) has not yet been answered. Working interventions have to stop because the subsidy runs out. Deployment is still too person-dependent. How do you get this anchored at the policy level? What role should the government take in this? And training institutions? And is the voice of the participant heard enough?

During this afternoon we will also search together for a way to cooperate more and learn from each other and share expertise.

1. Workshop Language Care(s).

By: Maaike Mul, Roos van Boerdonk, Miranda Poel and Wendy van Zon -Vitalis WoonZorg Groep

During this workshop we will explore together the different languages we speak, care often seems to speak a different language than the arts.

Function-related language use causes miscommunication and misunderstanding while in fact we are all striving for the same goal: to offer the client a good and happy life.

In this workshop we will explore and take stock of our Language Care(s). Awareness of these differences provides opportunities for art and care across a mutual.

Do you have ideas about this? We would love to discuss the implications and opportunities with you!

2. Workshop Arts &Healt Direction
By Madelon van Riel and Eliza Perez - Cordaan

Following up on the panel discussion, together we will make a practical course map with which you can develop and implement art interventions without forgetting to involve people. Who do you need? How do these come together and what is needed to make this work? With the goal ultimately being an artistically high quality course driven from the desire of the participant.
