(Archive) Last Fall

By attributing the properties of fragility, vulnerability, and temporality to an object, it acquires a human side.

This project was part of DDW 2022

Last Fall seek to create in its audience that state of contemplation akin to watching a flame, where the subconscious mind invents and projects patterns onto the furtive, the elusive. In this way, Last Fall can have a positive influence on the state of mind and well-being of the viewer.

Sander Hagelaar strives to make people experience objects instead of seeing or possessing them. He believes that society should move away from wanting to 'have' products and that more value should be attached to experiences and well-being. By attributing the properties of fragility, vulnerability, and temporality to an object, it acquires a human side. Hagelaar is convinced that communication between people and objects is more direct and valuable in this way.

With Last Fall, people want to experience temporality as something beautiful, giving them the art of losing. Last Fall seeks to create in its audience that state of contemplation akin to watching a flame, where the subconscious mind invents and projects patterns onto the furtive, the elusive. In this way, Last Fall can have a positive influence on the state of mind and well-being of the viewer.

Last Fall is a dark space that transforms when soap screens appear out of nowhere. The soap screens work like mirrors in which all colors can be seen. It is a temporary space created by natural effects, which forms around the spectators. Gravity causes the screens to disappear one by one.
