Inside the former telephone exchange office on Strijp S, the creations by two Eindhoven design firms are put up for display. JAPTH is presenting their latest distinctive lighting products, with new shapes, colors and models. Studio ONS is presenting her new carpet, curtain and furniture designs.

JAPTH, a Dutch Design Collective

JAPTH is an initiative of designers Aart van Rooij from DutchAart Interior Design and Eduard Sweep from Yksi Design. Together they founded JAPTH, a platform for new and inspiring collaborations within design and manufacturing.

‘’We notice that the possibilities that LEDs have to offer are not used to their full potential. Many designers still take into account the criteria and shapes of incandescent lamps when creating a new design. We would like to make a change with this collection of lighting that optimizes the possibilities of the use and the design itself. Sustainability is key: all components are made of high-quality materials and the lamps are produced in a workshop by people distanced from the labor market. Hence the name: JAPTH: “Just a perfect thing”.

Studio ONS, a design studio founded by Nathalie Schellekens

After graduating the Design Academy in Eindhoven, she started as an independant designer and the past years she created new products and collections in collaboration with brands like FATBOY the Original, BOREK and TEXTILES&MORE.

“My aim is to create bold and iconic designs that you feel connected to and want to have around you.
I believe in designs containing a nod to recognizability.”

Together with Textiles&More, she created a collection of luxury print rugs and textiles. "Throw your wad of paper wherever you want, against the wall, on the floor, against the ceiling in your home, your office, restaurant, hotel or wherever you want.... " Large exploded props and paper patterns give an alienating three-dimensional effect and make you pause for a moment....
On my own, I designed a folding table with reversible table top and stools coated with recycled material like denim, leather and metal.
