Combining new and complicated technology (the synthesizer) with an old well known interface (the door) results in an instrument that can be played by anyone.
The synthesizer is a technology that is relatively rare, specific and that requires some quite specific knowledge to operate. It also often comes with an interface full of knobs, faders, switches, patch cables and contacts that can be rather intimidating
