About Studio Altar

Studio Altar is a design studio based in Amsterdam and London. Their practice is driven by a passion for traditional crafts and draws from the critical exploration of the crossover between vernacular aesthetics, history and cultural context of the communities they collaborate with. Our main focus is to preserve traditional artisanal techniques. Whether working on self-initiated research projects or design commissions, our goal is to create a bridge between the past and the future of crafts.
