The event series will focus on sustainable printing (on textile) that introduces an alternative production model for consumer and product relationships.

Glitch - Live printing event

What happens to our relationship with the products we use if we become part of the production process? Do we value the product more because it is personalised? Will we treat the product with more respect because it was constructed by our own hands? Is this a possible solution in reducing the amount of waste manufactured by the fashion industry? Flatpack Couture offers DIY, high quality and GOTS certified sewing kits to create personalised fashion that are price competitive with fast fashion brands. We offer 'good' tools, you are the designer. In a potential collaboration with HouseOfU and the visitor we want to create a live printing experience. We print the template of our DIY bag at DDW for the visitor to purchase, take home and then construct themselves - making their very first customised Flatpack Couture piece. Only leftover ink will be used, so there is no guarantee that the print comes out exactly as designed. Perhaps your color of choice ran out during the printing process, creating an unexpected and uncontrolled glitch - and a unique print for your bag. Using every single drop of ink avoids wastage.
