After a lot of cooking, cleaning and polishing this bone based tapas set was created. With this project I want to create awareness about the meat industry and the suffering that comes with it.
Imagine this scene; a group of friends is catching up over a drink on a Saturday night. The table is covered with snacks like bread, spreads, chips, dips, olives, vegetables, cheese and meat. People are stuffing themselves with animal based products, whilst the horror behind the production of those products are forgotten and the events of the meat industry are discreetly continuing. While this heartwarming gathering is taking place, thousands of animals are slaughtered at the same time, every second. These animals suffer because some of us make the decision to have a slice of sausage to accompany the drink. With this project I want to confront people with the duality of these everyday events, to create awareness about the meat industry and the suffering that comes with it. You can enjoy your glass of red wine, it doesn’t have to be enjoyed with something that leaves blood on your hands.

About Launa Visser

As a designer, I try to combine my love for animals with my passion for design to make space for these individuals - from large to small - in the human environment. How can we strengthen our relationship with these animals? And hoie can we give them a place to be?
