YOU CAN FILL IN WHO OR WHAT I AM. I FEEL LIKE A CHAIR MYSELF, YOU CAN SEE THIS IN MY APPEARANCE. BUT IF YOU GET TO KNOW ME BETTER, YOU WILL NOTICE THAT I CAN ALSO BE USED AS A TABLE. UNFORTUNATELY, I SUFFER FROM AN IDENTITY CRISIS. WHICH INITIALLY MAKES YOU THINK I’M JUST A CHAIR. BUT I’M NOT!

What is "I am a...."?

The inspiration for this table came from the issue of identity crises. The identity crisis is a recognised problem in several areas: transgender identity, depression, adoption, but also in terms of your work and performance. I wanted my design to make people aware that everyone sometimes has questions about their identity. This is reflected in the design of the table. Because of its proportions, it looks like a chair. Yet you can eat at it with 2 people. 1 person stands behind the ‘chair’ and eats from the shelf on the inside, and the other sits at the front and eats from the ‘seat’. But as soon as you try to sit on the chair, you notice that it is not comfortable. The table is made of MDF finished with oak veneer. The edged veneer gives it a solid wood look.
