Amalgamation between perfectionism and uninhibitedness.

Within her creative process, Dewi van der Zijden also embraces the idea of failure. Her deep-seated perfectionism sometimes hinders her creative freedom. To break through this, she experiments with working with her non-dominant hand and with materials such as ceramics, which she is less proficient at. As a result, she consciously allows more room for errors and imperfections in her work. This amalgamation of the contrast between perfectionism and failure ensures that humor can be found not only in the subjects she tackles, but also in her visual language.

Stretching boundaries in a playful way.

Dewi van der Zijden's exhibition invites visitors to laugh and confront. It is a celebration of human failure, the beauty of imperfection and the art of living with discomfort. The comic inconveniences of the campsite are explored in a unique and creative way, challenging visitors to look at taboos and failures in a different way. It is an experience that playfully pushes the boundaries of our comfort zones.
