Eggbox Lamp

Ruben de Haas

Especially for the Egglamp, Ruben de Haas created this suiting light fixture. The Egglamp comes in Brown and White, both will fit perfectly in this genuine egg carton.

Not very sustainable

“During the design process, I discovered ‘B-eggs’. These are eggs that are 'too ugly' for consumers and are often sold to bakers to use in their production. The eggs have a weird, deformed look, which I actually consider to be even more beautiful and unique. They make great lights and a special series with these is on the way.” Unfortunately, the Egglamp, even though seemingly eco-friendly, is far from sustainable. This is because there's a need to import the lightbulbs from China, break them into pieces, and rebuild them with the eggs. “I’m currently talking to some factories in order to make the process better. Perhaps in the future, all lightbulbs can be made from eggs. For many people, it’s a waste product; they are actually pretty strong and make great light bulbs.” - Ruben de Haas
