REBEL - Buiten de lijntjes is meer ruimte

Marjan Selleslags

REBEL is a table in which the concept of 'quirkiness' has been formally translated. The table mainly wants to convey a message: think outside the box... because there is more room there.

Inspiration

REBEL is the result of a school assignment where we had to design a table based on a feature of an idol. As an idol, I chose 'Loesje'. Loesje is a fictional Dutch girl who writes posters with critical and/or humorous texts and sticks them in public spaces. Loesje's texts are characterised by a positive and humanistic approach. During the design phase, I set to work on the trait of 'quirkiness' and how to translate this formally. A table with a rebellious table leg became the final result. REBEL wants to convey a social message: think outside the box. Only then can we innovate and meet current social challenges.
