‘Verwonderwezens’ is about challenging yourself to view all creatures as equal. In this colorful book, a few wondrous species are introduced, with their own unimaginable qualities and ways of living.

Animal-centrism?

‘Verwonderwezens’ takes you on an adventure through a world in which fantasy creatures have special abilities. It takes time to view these creatures as equal, but once you do you will see how similar these creatures are to humans… With this, ‘Verwonderwezens’ challenges the anthropocentrism that is dominant in western culture. Why do we view the specie ‘human’ as superior to other animal species? We humans daily influence the lives and fates of all animals on earth. Should it not be the norm to acknowledge their intelligence, needs and feelings from their point of view instead of our own, human idea of cognition? ‘Verwonderwezens’ encourages you to take on the perspective of other creatures on this planet a little more often. Stand still and really take the time to see all the wonderful things around us.
