Ceramic workshop Jo Sijen shows functional ceramics such as tableware and specially teaware made in various techniques. Some of them inspired by techniques used in Korea and Japan.

Cup of tea…….?

There are various ways to make a tea bowl. Hand built, thrown or molded, each way with its own character. Finally there is the firing. Different ways of firing, such as wood, salt or electric kiln firing and the fast raku firing. The partly unpredictable process of the different firings is of great importance for the final appearance of the pieces. We can learn a lot from different cultures, making their teabowls and serving tea…….
