Fiducial markers, utilized in industrial sectors, are rarely used in apparel. Disguised under the pastiche of couture fashion, this research-through-design garment merges fashion with research on: fiducial marker technology, and math fractal patterning research applications and pataphysics.

Fiducial markers, math fractal research, and speculative-pataphysics

Fiducial markers, utilized in industrial sectors, are rarely used in apparel. Disguised under the pastiche of couture fashion, this research-through-design garment merges fashion with fiducial marker technology, and math fractal patterning research applications, under the parody of a red herring metaphor. Are you looking at the garment, the fish, or is the red herring looking at you? Do you see the fiducial markers embedded in the classic Houndstooth check pattern’s hypnotic repeat? Layers of distraction may provide an apt metaphor for future notions of uncertainty surrounding surveillance markers on apparel.
